The hunt is on for the best business idea on Tyneside and Wearside with the second annual Biz Idol competition. The competition forms part of Business Week Tyne and Wear, a week-long series of events to promote and celebrate business success in Tyne and Wear.
It is expected that there will be even more interest in the competition this year as entry is easier. In addition, there is also a special competition for people under 18 years old. All entrants have to do is submit 500 words on their business idea and 300 words on the biggest hurdle they will face in launching the business, either with web or paper submissions.
The judges will be looking for good ideas delivered with determination. Entrants will not be judged on how well developed their business is - some people will have a sophisticated business plan already, while others will be entering spur-of-the-moment ideas. Self-employed people can enter the competition, but the business idea must be radically different from any current business owned or operated by the entrant.
Judges will choose 10 adults and 10 from the Under 18’s to pitch their ideas to the panel at Tiger Tiger on June 3. The top 3 from each will present at The Big Day Event at The Stadium of Light, on July 6.
The three adult finalists will receive essential start-up support, expert consultancy advice and cash to help start their company immediately.
If you have a new business idea download an application form via: www.bizidol.co.uk and submit your application no later than Monday 22nd May 2006.
